Bottlenose Dolphin

A robust dolphin with a short, thick beak and a tall sickle-shaped fin, reaching up to 3.8 m and 350 kg. It occurs in temperate and warm seas worldwide, all along the Portuguese coast, with a famous resident population in the nearby Sado estuary. Off Peniche it turns up regularly, if less often than the common dolphin, in groups of dozens.
