Angelica

A robust, much-branched Iberian endemic that in Portugal grows only in the Berlengas. It has large, glossy dark-green leaves, reaches up to a metre tall, and raises conspicuous whitish flower umbels. Its roots anchor into granite fissures, so it turns up on rocky outcrops, scree and halophytic cliffs.
