The Berlengas cliffs take intense wind and frequent sea spray, so their granite crevices hold salt-tolerant vegetation, sea fennel, sea-blite and the endemic Berlengas thrift. The grouping spans three Natura 2000 habitat types, with some species found only on specific formations such as Farilhão Grande.
